Aasun’s midwestern work ethic and love of nature come from growing up on a farm in the midwest.  At 17 he moved to Los Angeles to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Anthropology at USC.  While there, he worked in USC’s Business School’s Computer labs—training students and faculty in business application usage—Aasun was active in holding Internet training seminars at USC’s state-of-the-art Leavey Library. While at USC he also developed the first websites and online communities for many student groups.

After graduation, he moved into the advertising and marketing world where he became a technology leader building internet-based business tools, including online marketing and branding strategies, web application development, content management systems, e-commerce and online community development with a variety of clients, including Toshiba, Roland Corporation, Panasonic, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Clorox, Brita, Taco Bell, adidas America, American Express, Universal, MTV and UC Santa Barbara.

In early 2001 he became The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation’s (GLAAD) first Director of Technology and spear-headed GLAAD’s Digital Initiative. For 5 years as GLAAD’s Director of Technology and consultant, he actively shepherded GLAAD’s strategic technology direction, including developing GLAAD’s community action Web site and CRM database application software as well as creating and growing GLAAD’s internal Technology infrastructure and Department to support the continued growth of the organization.

Currently, Aasun is the President and Partner at Ottenhoff Consulting, LLC creating customized technology solutions for small and medium businesses and non-profits.  At Zootopia, Aasun brings his unique experience with small- and large-scale projects, brand- and marketing-focused technology sensibilities, project management and team-building skills to create the technology-empowered center of the organization.
